13.1 and PROUD

This blog was started to track my progress losing weight and training for my first half marathon.. Well I can proudly say I completed one of the two goals. I finished my first half marathon in 2:36 minutes. It was a fantastic experience, and you AtlantaVeg I hope you think about the NYC half for next year.. its a blast... anyway.. my weight loss was a loss.. and i dont mean in poundage... i havent lost a pound.. i eat way too much and need to stop.. so im not posting my food for now, cause its a joke ,, but i will soon cause now i am training for the Baltimore marathon which takes place Oct. 16th , 2010.

Ow, my back hurts!!!

OMG.. I had such a terrible run on Thursday.  Somewhere along the line I must have pulled a muscle in my back because when I was running I was in terrible pain.  It burned so bad, I had to walk/run the whole way.  I am very nervous that it wont be fixed by next Sunday... my 1/2 marathon in NYC.  I am going to the chiropractor this Saturday, hopefully she can help me.  By the way, my eating is out of control..

Ow... MY BACK HURTS.. :(

 So I had a terrible run today. awful.  It was absolutely beautiful outside so I was prepared to live it up, run through the streets, smiling, laughing, happy.. but that's not what happened.. Im running along and my left side starts really hurting. It was muscular pain on the left side of my back.  It was so painful I was really having trouble running and after about 2 miles I had to take a walking break. I never made it to the full 4.7 miles I usually run on weekdays at work.  I had to walk and run all the way back to the gym. So today (Wednesday) I am not running. I have to get this thing out of me before March 21st, that's all I care about.

My food intake has been ridiculous. Im not losing any weight right now.. Im in an eating mode.

Chubby Woman POOPS!!!!

I had the best run of my life today! 14 miles with no pain.  I feel like I had 2 triumphs though.. First.. I actually pooped BEFORE my run (instead of during)  so I felt great going into it.I want you to know this was no easy feat. I got up at 5 am, drank coffee,ate a piece of toast, and then was on and off the pot trying trying trying.. Finally I get in the car and start driving and Im like "youve got to be kidding me"  so as soon as I got out of the car where our group meets I darted into an open (its 6:45 am) Subway. So there is my poop story. Secondly.. I just had a great run.. felt good the whole way..Tired as heck now though, my legs are very stiff.

I had a bad food day.. I felt like I had to eat right after my run so I grabbed a breakfast sandwich.. next week though Im just gonna have a Cliff Shot right after.. its got the sugar I need to replenish.

 I dont even want to write my food today because it is so gross , so this will be my one day off where I dont report what I ate... suffice it to say it was all bad.  Better days ahead.

Getting Ready for a Big One

Tomorrow (Saturday) I am going to try to run 14 miles. I hope I make it. The run begins with an 8.0 mile course then back to the beginning of our loop when I should continue on for another 6 miles. Hopefully I will be at my best and trudge on. I really want to go the distance because I figure it's my last chance to run far before my half marathon on March 21st.  Not really though... I could still run a long one on the 13th but for now... Im ready to go... If I could only poop... not kidding.,.. I know its alot to take.. reading this, but I have a real problem and I really dont want to feel like I have to go WHILE I AM RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!! Im sick of it. So .. tomorrow my plans are to wakeup at 5 am, drink coffee, go, and then Ill be fine.. Perfect scenerio right? Hope so.  Sorry Jake... but this is real life.  Anyway, tonight for dinner I ate a Burrito.. hoping this will help.  Oh ,, did a yoga type of stretching class for 45 minutes at gym during lunch hour.

1/2 of a mediocre Steak Burrito from California Tortilla (mediocre is key word)
Lots of yummmy corn chips with Cheese Sauce
Oh and of course, 3 glasses of wine.

Running from Weight Watchers?

I've been running... no problem.. Saturday I ran 10 miles. Of course I had to stop for  a number two break at a hotel but I got right back out there and continued my run... Im working on preventing that problem but I havent quite figured it out just yet.  Im eating poop yogurt (Activia) right now.

Well the reason I havent blogged lately is because I am feeling guilty that I may be leaving Weight Watchers.. I have a really hard time counting my food. It actually makes me eat more because I feel like I'm depriving myself.. I dont know. Im just trying to eat less food.. Dinner time is my main problem.  Breakfast and Lunch I am in control, but dinner (aka Wine time) I lose it and eat  way too much.  So this blog is for Thursday, March 4th, 2010. I did run my 4.7 miles on my training route at lunch time.

Breakfast

Tea with milk and 2 splendas (YUM)

Lunch
Ham & Turkey Sandwich on Rye Bread

Ten Miles... so much for the points...

I'll tell you why I have eaten "normally" so far today... I ran 10 miles today. After having not run for a full week I was quite tired and achy during and after my run. Then I had to rush off to the Chiropractor and I hadnt eaten much of anything except a piece of bread at Panera.  So during my initial consultation I became nausous (sp).. sorry... anyway I became this way only when she rubbed some of the muscles in my neck.. We decided I was feeling faint (and dizzy) because my blood sugar was off, from not eating.. So directly after my appointment I hauled myself off to the Bagel Deli across the street and I had a bagel with whitefish salad, and a big yummy cookie and a hot tea for dessert,.   I felt better immediately. 

I have no idea what I'lll eat for dinner but I don't feel like I'm going to pig out.. If I just allow my self to eat normaly I think I will eat less. When I deprive myself I end up eating more... like I'm food possessed...

Well that's enough ranting for today.... please excuse my spelling as there is no spell check on this blog that I know of.

I don't have a lot to say for myself..

My blog has been lacking and I have been eating. I haven't run since Saturday. I feel like a BLOB. BLOB I AM. Should call this the BLOB BLOG. I have to weigh in a some point at Weight Watchers but I cant even decide when I should go... I cant go Saturday, my usual day, because I have to go to the Chiropractor...
So I guess I'll go Tuesday for sure.

I havent blogged in a few days so I'll just post yesterday's (Thursday) food...Tues and Weds I was great for Breakfast and Lunch but dinners I went off the charts.. Tuesday night I had Veal for dinner and lots of chocolate pretzels for dessert. Wednesday nite I ate TWO cold cut sandwiches, popcorn with butter and then later a small piece of pizza. I suck.

Off the Beaten Path....

I have been off my diet for a few days.. not totally.. but somewhat... I have been good for breakfasts and lunchs but dinners have been a wash...Friday night I ate every tapas plate I could at my favorite restaurant, Pazo. Saturday night we went out to dinner and I had Veal Franchaise and several glasses of wine... (I did run 8 miles on Saturday).  Sunday I was ok... but I had a delicious Cloak & Dagger sandwich after having worked a double at the restaurant... So this report is for Monday, February 22, 2010... Oh.. btw.. Im resting my back for a few days.. its really bothering me so I won't be running until Thursday.

I suck at dieting, dont I?  Total points for the day...  41.  sounds perfect. only 18 points over my allowed 23. No wonder I have only lost 2 pounds in 4 weeks. I'm wasting my 12 bucks a week. I better get on the horse.. but I'm going out to dinner tonight....

Tuesday Night Drunkfest.. whoopsie daisy

i do so well during the day.. I'm like a brilliant Weight Watcher. I eat my little yogurt and oatmeal for breakfast... I have a Smartone for lunch and then boom boom boom... the six o'clock hour hits and I sink to the bottom.  Last night I started off with a glass of wine.. which led to many more (especially since I have a BOX of wine in my kitchen). Dinner wasn't terrible.. just more than I should have.  Oh ... but I did run 4.7 miles at lunch.

Valentine's Day- LAST DAY OF GOING OVER MY POINTS!!!!!!!

Ok people.. this is it.. no really... this is the last time I am going over my daily points.. I trully intend to lose 2 pounds this week so I get my five pound star from weight watchers.  My son laughed at me when I told him I was going to lose 2 pounds this week.. he thinks that sounds like just a little bit, but it really isnt.  Think of it in terms of Butter... one pound of butter is 4 sticks. so I am going to lose 8 sticks of butter this week.  So anyway Valentines Day Buffet.. here goes...

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

I ran 10.1 miles this morning. The snow was on the side of the roads piled high but generally speaking the streets were clear.  I feel much better now that I have run because it has been over a week since I had.  Also I went to Weight Watchers and found out I had lost 4/10th of a pound.. Doesnt sound like a lot but after a week of snow and snow days, wine, and chicken wings Im just glad I didnt gain!!  I did over eat my poiints today but thats just a fact of weekend bliss.

Getting Back on Track

Well my daughter says Im not supposed to be depressing on my blog, but after 7 days of not excercising Im crawiling up the walls.. Its my fault I havent moved my butt... I could have gone to the gym and worked on the treadmill but I didnt.  I really am an outside runner and I was feeling sorry for myself that I couldnt go because of the snow.  Well things are looking up... tomorrow. (Saturday) our group is meeting at 7 am for a 10 mile jaunt through Baltimore.

Anyway.. due to my deep depression and general feelings of worthlessness and doom and gloom I ate potato chips.

I TOOK A SNOW DAY

Yesterday, Wednesday February 10th, it snowed an additional15 or so inches on top of the already accumulated 2 feet from Saturday's storm.  My office was closed and I chose not to behave.  Everything I ate was off my diet, and truthfully I probobly gained back a couple of pounds.  All in all it was a fun day of eating and drinking but today I am paying the price.

Forget the points, it will make me ill to look at them... as if listing what I ate (and drank) isnt bad enough.

Breakfast
1 cup of tomato based soup with sausage and rice
2 rice cakes
Smoked Salmon with fat free cream cheese
5 Sugar cookies... yes I did say 5.

Lunch
Several glasses of wine, and I mean several.
Shared a Basket of French Fries with the BF.

Dinner
Italian Sausage on 2 pieces of Pumpernickel Bread.

Well, it was a great day, just wish I didnt have to watch what I eat.. but I do so back to Weight Watchers and counting points.

No Wine Just Dine

I didn't have any wine last night (Monday) or Sunday for that matter. That's huge for me.. I usually have at least 2 glasses and sometimes 3.  I didn't blog for Sunday but I wasnt too bad... I went over about 5 points. that seems to be the magic number.. so I've realized if I dont binge one day a week like I have been then I can spread out those extra 35 points by the day.  That's my goal anyway... Also I have managed to squeeze myself into a pair of jeans that a week ago I couldnt even zip.. Hope the scale reflects a loss this week.

So for Monday February 8th, 2010 this is my eats...

I crashed and burned yesterday under 2 feet of snow. Yes I gave in to Blizzard Blues and ate Chicken Wings and French Fries at the only open restaurant in the area... Was it worth it? I dunno... but it sure was fun... So with that said.. here goes....

Too Much Dinner, Too Many Glasses of Wine.....

Well its Thursday, February 4th, 2010 and once again I ate too much for dinner and drank too much wine.. perhaps I should join AA and forget weight watchers.. I could just be a fat alcholic who runs.. but if I gave up drinking I'd probobly wanna smoke and then I couldnt run.. Oh the dilemmas of life. (there Becca,,, is that better??)  anyhoo.. im here to report that I did run 4.7 miles at lunch.. meanwhile there are all these skinny girls who work in my office and I bet they all had pizza at our corporate meeting today.. Meanwhile I up and leave so not to be tempted by pizza , throw my running shoes on and go run. Not to mention there is snow everywhere and it isnt exactly warm outside.. and Im the one weighing in at a healthy 186 pounds... What the F?

My Daughter thinks My Blog is Boring

My daughter says I should really pick it up here on my blogging space.  I guess it is rather boring reading only what I ate all day... I mean really who cares?  But the point is I have to track what I eat so I can be accountable to myself, and to you, my loyal blog readers.. I was doing so well on Monday.. Breakfast and Lunch were right on the money but after working at the restaurant and coming home stressed out over bills and what not I ate just a little too much.. and I know its because I had 2 glasses of wine instead of just one.  Also  I didnt excercise today.

It's Saturday Night and I'm feelin light....

I ran 8.1 miles this morning and let me tell you.. the temp was 21 degrees!! I immediately at run's end ate 2 Pancakes with syrup (9 pts). Also later in the day I had a Starbucks Chai Latte which I just learned was a whopping 6 pts!!! and that was NONFAT!!! so basically I have used up all points already except for my Six Activity Points.
Weekends I am finding... tend to be my extra points time.   I do plan on sticking to my 23 points per day this Monday thru Friday, and maybe tapping into the activity points I earn by running.  Anyway it appears I have used 25 points already so I will have to tap into some extra points and my activity points at tonight's party.

2.6 Pounds and Counting!!!! Thursday, January 28th

I lost 2.6 pounds in my first week of weight watchers!!! I have to say I really did keep to my points except for last Sunday when I ate Mexican food and tonight (Bad Girl).  Otherwise I stayed within, but of course I used all my extra points and activity points... So today I only ran 2.8 miles because there was an accident on the road I usually run on and a policeman wouldn't let me pass... o well... 2.8 is better then nothing...and its still counted as 30 minutes of excercise which I earned 3 activity points.

Starting Points= 23

Breakfast
Banana (2 pts)
One tablespoon Almond Butter, right off the spoon.. (2 pts)
1/2 Grapefruit (1pt)

As you can see... I went over my points at dinner... I was kind of celebrating my weight loss and I have to stop that.  I ate a total of  39 points minus my 3 activity points = 36 points... WAY OVER... well tomorrow I will start fresh.

My first Sunday as a Weight Watcher Citizen...

Didnt do so well. I had to use17 extra points to get  by so basically I have no extra points at all left for the week unless I run.. Started off great, breakfast fine, lunch fine but dinner... WE went out to Mexican food and I had 2 Margaritas.. should have had just one, but thats me.

9.75 Miles and Still Eating... LMAO

Today was a great running day.. We (myself and some girls I run with) ran 9.75 miles (2 hours of Moderate Exercise) in beautiful Roland Park(Baltimore), MD.  The run was rather easy with a few sliding slopes upwards....  I kept with my points today but only because I added 7 activity points to my normal 23 allowable to make a whopping 31 LEGAL POINTS... I count running as a Moderate excercise... If I counted it as High I could have added 13 points but that seemed excessive... So I had to use 1 of my 35 weekly extra.Plus 1 more if  I have popcorn tonight.

Breakfast (after running 9.75 miles)

2 Tbl Spoons of Spicy Hummus from Whole Foods (love this stuff) (1pt)
3 Egg Whites (1 Pt) cooked with Pam.

First Day of Weight Watchers- Friday, January 22, 2010

Well if you have been following this blog you will know that I have been posting my food intake. If you happened to read that portion of my blog you also know that it appeared I was trying to gain weight, not lose it.  So.. with that said.. I have re-joined Weight Watchers.. Took the day off of excercise today.. tomorrow, Saturday, is my long distance day... will inform you later of my distance (not to Jinx myself).

So if you are a Weight Watchers follower you might enjoy the point values I am placing next to the foods I eat..

Thursday, January 21, 2010- Back to Weight Watchers

Ok folks... those of you have been following this blog are well aware of my over zealous food intake.. its down right ridiculous... so off I went BACK to Weight Watchers for the THIRD  time this year!!! Ive said it before and Ill say it again.. this time its for the duration. I want to lose 50 pounds.  Yah, its great I can run 11 miles but the way I have been eating has kept me from losing a single pound.. and ps , in small print my Weight Watchers weight is 188.8.

So this post is for Wednesday, and I didnt join WW until the evening... I did run 4.7 miles at lunch.

Meatless Monday, January 18th, 2010

Today is my second day of eating no meat. I will not be eating meat but I am still eating fish, eggs and I may not be picky if something has a beef stock.. i.e.. onion soup... Today I ran 4.7 miles at lunch time.. a very hilly course and my legs were tight but I made it.

Coffee with 1/2 1/2 and sugar (Dunkin Donuts, something I may not be able to give up)
Rice Cake with Almond Butter

OW.. My Legs Hurt...

Its Saturday, January 16th and I'm posting my food from Friday. But I have to mention that I ran 11.5 MILES this morning!!!! Its the first time I have ever run that far... shout out to TJ my running partner who encourages me and runs the distance as well.

Also today I went to Whole Foods and stocked up on all kinds of Vegan stuff... I bought Veganaise, Almond Butter, Tofu Chicken, Tofu Burgers, Asian noodles, rice cakes, Whole Grain english muffins, and other stuff too.  I think I am really over Chicken and Steak for the time being. I had a bite of my BF's steak last nite and I didnt like it at all...

I jsut got on the scale and it is depressing.. I have gained two pounds and I ran almost 25 miles this week.

I must stop eating the way I have been.. Starting now I am eating better.

Friday January 15th.

Lunch
Salad with 1/2 cup turkey, 1/4 cup of Feta, veggies, One Dolmos and Fat Free Dressing

Kibitzing with the Knish- True Story

Forget yesterday. This is today.. Thursday, January 14th, 2010. I am right now eating a meat Knish and drinking my red wine... its 8:30 pm. I got to work at 7:15 am, ran 4.7 miles at lunch, went to the eye doctor, went back to work, went to another appointment, did errands and am now home with my Knish. Now one thing very important... as I was running my 4.7 miles on Extreme HILLS... I swore to myself I would never eat another fatting thing ever again.. I do not want to carry around 185 pounds on my runs. Its not necessary.. but what do I do? I come home to my KNISH.. and my Whitefish Salad on a Pumpernickel Bagel (along with my numerous glasses of red wine).. thats the bad Wendy habit.  The day wasnt half bad though..until tonight.. Lets take a look--

Tuesday January 12th... I EAT SOOOO MUCH!!!

I am being ridiculous.. Here I am bothering to track what I eat thinking it will help me eat less when in fact Im eating just as much as ever... I am an eataholic.  I did run 4.6 miles though and it was rather hilly. Also I had to work both jobs.. (my mortgage job and then waitress) so my day was very long. Well here goes... the list..

Breakfast

I can totally see my faults... I know I have to give up Late Night Snacks or at least change what I eat to something not fattning.. its just so hard because when I get home after a double day all I wan to do is drink some wine and eat some food... O well tomorrow is another day.

PS.. I know I skipped Monday.. I didnt have a chance to post my food... but I did go to the gym and do my weight training class.

Sunday was a Big Food Day along with 0 excercise

I accidentally mis titled yesterday's post but today (Monday) my post is about Sunday. Its actually ridiculously embaressing to write down what I ate on Sunday... it sounds like I am definitley trying to gain weight. Im not even gonna divide it up by meal, Im just gonna list it all so I can look at my silliness in black and white..

2 eggs over easy (Pam in the pan)
2 medium Pancakes (Pam in the pan)
2 slices of Bacon
1 sausage
1 slice of smoked salmon
3 ozs salmon
small Cesear salad
2 slices Prime Rib (about 5 oz's)
2 cookies
1/2 baked potato
whole wheat pasta with vodka sauce
3 glasses of wine
one pear.

I did not excercise at all on Sunday because I worked a double shift at the restaurant.
No way am I counting the calories because I will be discouraged.

Sunday Big Food Day

When you read what I ate Saturday you would think I'm trying to gain weight .. not lose it...  I did run the 5.5 miles which made me extra hungry. I think because it ws 25 degrees honestly it made me more hungry than usual.  So here goes

Breakfast (In 2 parts)
Coffee with half/half and a splenda
Blackberry Mango X large Muffin (ate 2/3rds)
Part 2 ( about a half hour later0
Smartones Breakfast Quesidilla
Lunch
Subway Turkey Sub with Cheese (no dressing) on Whole Wheat (6 inch)

One bag of Ketel Corn with lots of Parmesan Cheese
Leftover Peruvian Chicken from night before
Dinner
2 Glasses of Wine
Whole Wheat Pasta with Target Brand Vodka Sauce w/ a little Parmesan Cheese
2 mini Heath bars, like really mini.
Snack
One amazingly delicious pear from Harry & Davids (gift from the Dad & Stepmom)

Even I look at this like REALLY???? you must be kidding.. I know Ill never lose weight going like this but hopefully the work week will keep me in line..  Talk to you tomorrow with Sunday's report.

5.5 Miles but I shoulda run 10

Saturday, January 9th, 2010... I set out to run 10 miles today but I only ran 5.5.  I'm a little dissapointed in myself for not going the extra (mile)s.. but I am still proud of myself that I got up at an out the door to meet the group (pacemakers) at 7:30.  the temp outside was about 25 degrees.  Neverthe less the truth is running is good for the brain.. I am a very stressful person.. I tend to stress over the little things.. and the running cools my jets. 

So without further ado I am going to recite my food intake for the previos day.. Friday January 8th, 2010.

Breakfast:
Coffee with SKIM milk and 2 splenda
Instant Oatmeal
Mid-Morning Snack
small Greek yogart spinkles of granola
Lunch
Salad w/ 2 pieces of feta, oive oil/bals vinegar, 1/2 egg, lots of veggies, one Greek dolmos
Mid Afternoon Snack
Almonds/Raisins
Pear
Dinner
One Margartita
One Glass of Wine
Peruvian Chicken with small amount of green sauce
Black Beans
Fried Yucca with small amount of fatting sauce.

Thursday, Jan 7th.... Too Much Wine Makes Me Eat Bad Things....

Thursday, January 7th...Not a Bad Bad Day... First of all no workout.. my calves were very sore from the combination of running on the track  doing sprints on Wednesday plus the weight training class (lunges, squats) at the gym during lunch hour.... boy I sound like I'm really in shape... then why do I weigh 185??? Well let me show you:

Breakfast: Poptart (strawberry, yum )
Mid-morning snack- Instant Oatmeal
Another Snack: small amount Almonds and Raisins
Lunch: leftover Tofu Pad Thai from the previous night's dinner,
1/4 bag of Fritos, Pear.
Afternoon Snack: more Almonds & Raisins



Dinner
Veggie Burger
1/2 Box Frozen Spinach (added garlic powder)
Baked Potato (small) added Worstershire Sauce, Soy Sauce, Garlic & Onion Powder
Now the bad part...
3 glasses of wine!!!!
After dinner snacks... 2 rainbow cake cookies, 2 handfuls of baked doritos, 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Well today is Friday so I hope to do better... ps I am supposed to run 10 miles on Saturday... Ill let you know!!

First Day of Blog

Hello.. My name is Wendy and I'm 45 years old and I weigh 185 pounds. I am 5'6". I eat way too much food BUT I run. My objective on this blog is to track my food intake and my miles run.

Yesterday, Wednesday I woke up at 5:00 AM and met my running group (Pacemakers) at 530 am for a track workout.. we ran approx. 3.5 to 4 miles total on the track.. broken up into sprints.

Breakfast: 3 egg whites with mozz cheese
Snack: Instant Maple Walnut Oatmeal
Lunch: Salad with Fat Free dressing, Feta cheese, a bit of egg and lots of veggies. Also 3 pieces of melba toast with lowfat cc.
Snack: Almonds and Raisins
Dinner: Tofu Pad Thai, a couple of shumai with shrimp, Veg spring roll fried, and 2 spinach veg dumplings. oh and 2 glasses of wine and one saki.

See how much I eat??? no wonder I lose no weight even though I run... well hopefully this blog will help me be aware of what Im doing so i can slim down..

ps. Im training for 2 half marathons.. one is March 21st (the NYC Half Marathon) and the other is April 25th, also in NYC, the More Half Marathon.
